The New York Daily News reported on Tuesday, February 5, that “Imam Feisel Abdul Rauf, founder and CEO of the American Society for Muslim Advancement, is being accused of swiping donation money intended for the ‘Ground Zero’ mosque to enjoy a lavish lifestyle.”
Regular readers of my website AtlasShrugs.com will not be surprised at this at all. We are proven right again and again, although the media never admits this. I wrote this in October 2010:
In a piece in Forbes late last year (right before the Ground Zero mosque was announced, Imam and slumlord Rauf extols the riches of fine living. Couture! Sports cars! Cuisine! And the world’s finest prayer rugs (of course). This should solve the riddle of where our two million in taxpayer dollars were going, along with the million from the Dutch government, and his funding from Osama Bin Laden/Al Qaeda-linked Saudi corporation XENEL not to mention our funding his Middle East junkets.
While the tenants in Ground Zero mosque imam’s slums in New Jersey suffer, Imam Rauf enjoys the finest offerings money can buy. Just last week, Rauf was summoned back to court (he didn’t show, of course) as he was cited with more than 200 housing and health code violations over the past two months. A couple of months ago Union City filed suit against Rauf.
Now it comes out that this sinister Islamic supremacist imam was financing this lavish lifestyle not just by ripping off his slum tenants and our taxpayer dollars, but by stealing from Ground Zero mega-mosque donors as well.
And it gets even worse. The New York Daily News reported that Rauf, “his pockets stuffed with donations given to Islamic nonprofits, splurged on a high-flying lifestyle that included expensive trips with a New Jersey gal pal, a stunning new lawsuit charges. The married Feisal Abdul Rauf fleeced the Malaysian government for $3 million and a Westchester County couple for $167,000, according to a lawsuit filed by the couple, businessman Robert Deak and his wife Moshira Soliman.” Rauf probably thought this money was his due – the jizya tax that the infidels must pay to the Muslims according to the Koran (9:29).
A 2011 MORE magazine puff piece on Rauf’s third wife Farhat (Daisy) Khan reported that she “shrugged” when confronted with the support of some Muslim women for female genital mutilation. Is she shrugging now? Is this wife number four for the pious and devout Imam Rauf?
And where is the media’s mea culpa? During the Ground Zero mosque controversy in 2010, we produced abundant evidence that Rauf was a sham and a man of great deceit. What ever happened to the millions this slumlord received from New Jersey to repair the inhumane living conditions in his buildings? Rauf snagged more than $2 million in public financing to renovate low-income apartments. He took the money and forced good people to live with vermin and dilapidation. Despite numerous citations for fire, building, and health code violations and reports of vermin and rat and roach infestations, the Imam left his tenants to live in abject squalor and filth.
Where are the investigative journalists following up on this theft? Still shining Rauf’s shoes?
The shady financial dealings didn’t stop there. Developers of the Ground Zero mosque applied for $5 million in federal grant money that had been set aside for the redevelopment of lower Manhattan after the 9/11 attacks. That request represents nearly one-third of the $17 million that was available.
And is the State Department still financing Rauf’s Middle East junkets at taxpayer expense, so that he can spread his special brand of Islamic engagement?
Yet in June 2010, the New York Post reported that the “moderate” Rauf was “a prominent member of a group that helped sponsor the pro-Palestinian activists who clashed violently with Israeli commandos at sea” in the Mavi Marmara incident, when jihadists chanting a genocidal anti-Semitic Islamic war cry posed as “peace activists” and attacked Israeli troops.
Also in 2010, I published audio of Rauf, showing that he was not at all as “moderate” as the media was and is so desperate to portray him. The media ignored that as well.
Speaking on July 12, 2005 at the Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre in Australia, Rauf delivered a few choice soundbites that belie his moderate. Here’s Rauf saying the U.S. is worse than al Qaeda:
“We tend to forget, in the West, that the United States has more Muslim blood on its hands than al Qaeda has on its hands of innocent non-Muslims. You may remember that the U.S.-led sanctions against Iraq led to the death of over half a million Iraqi children. This has been documented by the United Nations. And when Madeleine Albright, who has become a friend of mine over the last couple of years, when she was secretary of State and was asked whether this was worth it, said it was worth it.”
No mention of the millions of victims of over a millennium of jihadi wars, land appropriations, cultural annihilation and enslavement. No mention of the recent slaughter by Muslims of Christians, Hindus, Jews, and non-believers in Indonesia, Thailand, Ethiopia, Somalia, the Philippines, Lebanon, Israel, Russia and China.
Rauf’s words manifest no candor, no criticism of Islam or Muslims — in other words, none of the mutual respect and willingness to take responsibility that we might expect from such a celebrated “moderate.”
But clearly he feels no obligation to take any responsibility for anything he does. The filthy kuffar fund his junkets, and the media fawns all over him no matter what he says and does. With red flags everywhere in Rauf’s, why isn’t the media doing its job of investigative journalism? In 2010 it gave Rauf a pass because it was rabid in its frenzy to destroy good, decent Americans who opposed a 15-story mega-mosque on Ground Zero. And clearly, nothing has changed. Rauf is a con man, a thief, and an Islamic supremacist.
But don’t expect to hear about it on CNN.
